🚨 INTERNET SAFETY ALERT for Trinity Families 🚨
Internet safety has never been more important in today’s digital world. Apps, social media and other platforms can help people connect, but they can also present potential dangers for our most vulnerable citizens. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office compiled a list of apps that parents and guardians should be aware of. If your child has these apps, learn how they work and talk with your child about the importance of being safe online. 💬📱
Here’s their “Apps to Know” list (updated July 2026):
📸 Snapchat – Photos/videos “disappear,” but Stories last 24 hrs and it can share your location.
🎵 TikTok – Short videos, limited privacy controls, high risk of cyberbullying & explicit content.
💬 WhatsApp – Texts, calls, video chats worldwide over internet.
🐵 Kik – Lets anyone message your child directly, bypassing normal texting.
📷 BeReal – Front/back camera snapshot; reveals location and can be shared publicly.
🎮 Discord – Voice/text/video chat while gaming; users report slurs, explicit content & bullying.
📩 Telegram – “Secret” texts, calls & video chats that disappear.
😊 MeetMe – Dating/social app connecting people by GPS proximity.
🐵 MonkeyCool – “Speed-dating” video chat for teens; used by criminals to exploit kids.
📺 OmeTV – Connects users with strangers; removed from app stores but web version still works.
🤖 ChatGPT – AI chatbot with few boundaries; can be misused for harmful content.
💗 Grindr – LGBTQ+ dating app based on GPS location.
📍 Sniffies – LGBTQ+ dating app; removed from Apple App Store but still usable via web.
🎨 Wizz – Chat app connecting strangers; used by criminals to exploit children.
🎲 Roblox – Game/chat platform; predators can use chat to obtain personal info.
👽 Reddit – Discussion boards with no identity verification; slurs & explicit content reported.
🧮 Calculator# – Disguised “vault” app used to hide photos, videos & browser history.
